Press Release from CARTOON and the Annecy Festival

The European Commission under President Barroso's presidency is
considering ending the MEDIA Programme! This decision could have
disastrous consequences on the European audiovisual sector, which
benefits from numerous funds and actions led by this programme. Many
associations have already taken action.

On behalf of the European animation industry, CARTOON and the Annecy
festival / MIFA have launched a petition to stop the proposed abolition

seven films remain in the running in the Visual Effects category for the 83rd Academy Awards.

All members of the Visual Effects Branch will be invited to view 15-minute excerpts from each
of the seven shortlisted films on Thursday, January 20. Following the screenings, the members
will vote to nominate five films for final Oscar consideration
